In November 2022, following a report from the municipality of La Prairie, Quebec, concerning a suspected movement of materials within an area protected under an Emergency Order for the Protection of the Western Chorus Frog, wildlife enforcement officers from Environment and Climate Change Canada attended the site located at 3025 Taschereau Boulevard, La Prairie.
At the scene, officers noted the presence of traces of heavy machinery traffic within the boundaries of the protected area. Their investigation determined that Les Entreprises Antoine Stabile & Fils Inc. had illegally deposited metal beams in the protected area and subsequently removed them using heavy machinery, all without proper authorization.
In light of these findings, Les Entreprises Antoine Stabile & Fils Inc. was prosecuted for having failed to comply with the Emergency Order, thereby contravening the Species at Risk Act. |
