On June 15, 2015, before the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Court, the Iron Ore Company of Canada pleaded guilty to two charges for infractions to the Metal Mining Effluent Regulations (MMER) under the Fisheries Act. The first charge was for failing to notify an inspector of an exceedance of total suspended solids in contravention of the requirements of the regulations and the second charge was for failing to provide a written report on the matter within the specified time period.
