Case summary:

In June 2015, during a routine patrol, a Wildlife Enforcement Officer from Environment and Climate Change Canada observed a large number of Bank Swallows (Riparia riparia) actively flying over a construction site on Seacliff Drive in Leamington, Ontario. Upon further inspection, the officer discovered that numerous Bank Swallow nests, eggs, and nesting shelters had been destroyed, damage that appeared to be directly linked to ongoing construction activities at the site, which were being carried out by Piroli Construction.

Based on these observations and the findings of the investigation, Piroli Construction was formally charged with contravening the provisions of the Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994 (MBCA).
